IBIZA - SANTA AGNÉS - LAS PUERTAS DEL CIELO
CAFETERIA CAN JORDI - LAS PUERTAS DEL CIELO
We have been coming to this great little restaurant in the pine forest of Santa Agnés for many years now and always receive a great welcome and good Ibicencan food and wine at decent prices.
On this occasion, we had,
Ensalada payesa (local Salad)
Nido calamar (squid nest)
Rotja (scorpion fish)
Followed by fideuà,
similar to seafood paella but made with pasta noodles instead of rice.
All washed down, by an excellent bottle of Mocen Verdejo 2019 D.O. Rueda, which I had not tried before.
We had the usual Ibicencan desserts of greixonera and flaó, which you can see in the older review below.
The following is a review from 2019
You will need a car or a bike to get to this restaurant. From Sant Antoni de Portmany (San Antonio), drive into Santa Agnés de Corona (Santa Inés) to the T-junction (next to Cafeteria Ca'n Cosmi, which is famous for its tortilla (Spanish omelette) turn left at the sign for Cafeteria Ca'n Jordi.
Once you leave the little village of Santa Agnés de Corona you will not see any more signs, although, it is a pretty straight forward drive from thereon, with pretty views of the almond blossom, (if you happen to be there in february).
Follow the road for around 1.5 km until you come across a rustic looking wooden restaurant set in a pine forest on your right. There is ample parking.
Ca'n Jordi is located high up in the pine forest close to the cliff edge which offers fantastic views.
Carefully walk to the cliff edge to catch the stunning views.
It is a great place for lunch, inside and outside, seated at a few wooden tables.
The service is very friendly, from the son, and the old couple that set up and run the restaurant.
The food and drink here are cheaper than the fancy bars elsewhere, but just as good.
This is not a trendy Ibiza club restaurant, but a typical, local restaurant serving traditional Ibicencan cuisine
It has been run by the same family for many years and the mother still works in the kitchen.
Locally produced ensalada Ibicencan
Sardinas (sardines)
Lubina (sea bass)
Dorada (gilthead Bream)
Gambas a la plancha (grilled prawns)
Paella
Fideuà (paella-like dish made with noodles instead of rice)
Chuleta's de cordero a la parrilla (grilled lamb chops)
Estofado de conejo (Rabbit Stew)
Greixonera. a typical cinnamon flavoured bread pudding, made from ensaïmadas (which contains lard)
Flaó (Cheesecake with mint)
In the small open space facing the sea, there are amazing panoramic views of the coast from the cliff, which tumbles down steeply, into the sea.
It is a great place to watch the setting sun, so don't forget to bring your camera. It is also worth bringing a spray, to protect you from mosquitoes, that live in the pine forest.
If you are more of an adventurous type, the surroundings are fantastic for hiking. There is also the Phoenician ruin of Sa Penya Esbarrada from the XII century, to the left of the restaurant, which you can view through the security fence.
Open until 10.30 pm from 1st July until the end of September. Rest of the year, lunch only (kitchen closes at 5 pm).
