HOSTAL RESTAURANTE CAPRI

Located around 100 metres from the seafront in the little tourist village of Es Pujols, this restaurant/hostal is one of the island's oldest (since 1963) and has always been owned by the same family.

If you are looking for 100% fresh fish, seafood, and rice dishes in a non-hectic, calming place with white tablecloths and pressed napkins, a relaxed atmosphere, and trained cooks who know what they are doing, well, you have come to the right place. Capri is all about food and service, with no pretence.

The old-school staff are attentive, friendly and professional.

It is in a beautiful setting with a covered outside dining area with twinkling fairy lights

surrounded with foliage. It is indeed a tranquil oasis.

I would recommend it for a romantic meal for couples; it is also suitable for families.

We asked for gambas de Formentera a la plancha, but they were off the menu that day, so we were offered gamba congelada, which was excellent and cheaper!

We had bullit de pescado y arroz a banda (which comes in two courses)

Bullit de pescado (a local classic of rockfish stew with saffron sauce)

The sauce is added to the fish

Followed by arroz a banda (a paella-type dish made with the broth left over from the stew with added cuttlefish pieces)

There are a few local desserts available, and the ubiquitous crema Catalana.

A menu del dia for €20 is not huge but quite adequate.
