RESTAURANTE ALMA DE MIGUEL
We eat in this restaurant quite often, it is predominantly a fish restaurant, located in the pedestrian center of Estepona old town.
There is plenty of seating outside for the warmer months, and in the winter you will find they have plenty of indoor seating with a large gazebo attached to the restaurant.
The restaurant is run by Miquel & his sister who oversee all the staff & they are exceptional hosts.
The food is always good, with a variety of fresh fish from the region & they also have some meat dishes. You can start with a glass of champagne or cava from the trolly.
On this occasion, we had,
Tartar de atún rojo y perlas de wasabi (red tuna tartar with wasabi pearls).
Tataki de atún rojo con helado jengibre (red tuna tataki with ginger ice cream).
Almejas chirlas (chirlas clams).
Centollo recién cogido con un chorrito de Jerez Tío Pepe Fino (freshly caught spider crab with a splash of Tío Pepe Fino sherry).
Langosta frita (deep fried lobster).
For dessert,
Torrija bañada en chocolate blanco y helado de coco (torrijo (similar to french toast) dipped in white chocolate and coconut ice cream).
Tarta de queso payoyo con mermelada casera de frutos de bosque (payoya goats milk cheesecake with red berries and homemade marmalade).
We had an excellent bottle of Maison Champy Pernand-Vergelesses 2019 Cote de Beaune.
To finish off, a cafe,
and a few copas of Licor 43!
We had a great meal, with top recommendations from the host and Samuel, the excellent sommelier, and attentive service from Benjamin.
You will find their sister restaurant, which is more tapas orientated, next door.
