IBIZA - SANT ANTONI DE PORTMANY - ES REBOST DE CAN PRATS - (POST 2)
ES REBOST DE CAN PRATS

In September 2024, we returned to one of our favourite restaurants, serving traditional Ibicencan cuisine in Sant Antoni de Portmany (San Antonio).

Located in a house built in the early years of the 20th century, it was one of the first shops in Sant Antoni. It sold food like chickens, eggs, cheeses, pebrassos, rabbits, vegetables, potatoes, and other products necessary for everyday life.

When they opened in 1994, in the home of the current owners' grandparents, who had been in the family for more than 100 years, it was done with the idea and passion of preserving and keeping the tradition of Ibicencan cuisine alive.
We had no reservation and arrived quite late in the evening, but they made a table for us after a short wait. It would be best to make a reservation in advance. We started with a bottle of Segura Viudas Aria Brut Nature Cava.

Pan con ailoil and olives.

As we had had a big lunch on the beach earlier, we skipped the starters and headed to the mains.
Fish was the order of the day, so we chose the pargo (grey snapper) and the Roja (scorpionfish). The juices from the fish and olive oil are used to make a delicious potato and vegetable side dish.

Roja (scorpionfish): You will not find many places where the red scorpionfish has such an intense flavour as in Ibiza. With a striking red colour, this spiny fish has the finest texture on the Island.

Pargo (snapper).

The fish was expertly fileted at the table.
We followed that with a couple of desserts.
Flaó d'Eivissa (a circular tart with a filling of sheep or goat cottage cheese, eggs, and sugar, slightly aromatised with peppermint leaves and aniseed).

Postre de la Casa

The meal was finished with a complimentary Copa de Heirbas.

The service, as usual, was excellent. This is one of the best restaurants on the Island for traditional food and is highly recommended.

Other traditional Ibicencan dishes are available.
Frita de porcella amb pebrassos (fired pork and Ibicenco wild mushrooms).
Manitas de cerdo (pigs trotters).
Frita de calamar con sobrasada (fried squid with sobrasada, a sort of local soft spreading chorizo).
Costres y pescado Seco de Formentera (dried fish from Formentera).
Berenjenas rellenas de carne (stuffed aubergines).
Frita de pulpo (fried octopus).
Calamares a la bruta (squid cooked in its own ink).
Fabulous fresh local fish.
Succulent local lamb.
