IBIZA - SANT ANTONI DE PORTMANY - RESTAURANTE CALA SALADA
RESTAURANTE CALA SALADA
September 2002
We have been to this family-run beach restaurant, set in a secluded bay, many times. It is down the bottom of quite a steep road. You will find parking halfway down and there is also a local bus service, which stops near the bottom of the road. The bus is the easiest and less exhausting way, to get there.
On this occasion, we turned up without reservation and were fortunate to be given a table inside.
Once settled in, we had this excellent lunch, starting with ensalada casa (house salad) and a few beers.
Almejas a la Marinera (clams fishermen style).
Gambas a la plancha (grilled fresh prawns).
Mero (Grouper).
Rape (Monkfish).
All the mains come with chips and salad. Service is brisk but friendly, as they are always very busy here. If you plan to come for lunch, you should phone to book in advance and get a table on the terrace overlooking the delightful bay.
After lunch, you can relax on the great little beach or have a swim and burn off a few calories.
Across the bay you will see another beach, this is the sister beach, Cala Saladeta, which is accessed by a walk over the rocks. It is very popular and can get very crowded in high season. There are no facilities, apart from a few vendors selling basic provisions.
When you leave, if you came by car, be prepared for the long hike up to the car park, which is not really suitable for people with any walking difficulties.
