RESTAURANTE CALA SALADA

We have often been to this family-run beach Restaurant in a secluded bay. It is down a steep road. Parking is available halfway down, and a local bus service stops near the bottom of the road. The bus is the easiest and least exhausting way to get there.

We turned up without reservation on this occasion and were fortunate to be given a table inside.

Once settled in, we had this excellent lunch, starting with ensalada casa (house salad) and a few beers.
Almejas a la Marinera (clams fishermen style).

Gambas a la plancha (grilled fresh prawns).

Mero (Grouper).

Rape (Monkfish).

All the mains come with chips and salad. Service is brisk but friendly, as they are always swamped here. If you plan to go for lunch, you should phone to book in advance and get a table on the terrace overlooking the delightful bay.

After lunch, you can relax on the great little beach or go swimming to burn off some calories.
Across the bay, you will see another beach, Cala Saladeta, the sister beach. It is accessible by walking over the rocks. It is very popular and can get very crowded in high season. There are no facilities apart from a few vendors selling basic provisions.

When you leave, if you come by car, be prepared for the long hike up to the car park, which is unsuitable for people with walking difficulties.
