A visit to Sant Antoni de Portmany (San Antonio) during the Covid-hit summer of 2021 saw us return to one of our favourite restaurants.

Since 2005, when the younger José Miguel Bonet took over, the traditional dishes have been given a slightly more inventive twist but still include many of the Island's favourites. There are various rice dishes, like paella, fideuá, arroz a banda, bullit de peix, and fish and seafood. The Restaurant was refurbished in early 2018.

We were early on this balmy July evening; most people were sitting in the beautiful garden area.

We tucked into the following.

Tartar de tomate de nuestro huerto con sorbete de AOVE (Our harvest tomato tartar with EVOO sorbet).

Ensalada ibicenca de pimientos asados con sardina ahumada y aceite de oliva de Ibiza (Roasted red peppers salad with smoked sardine and olive oil from Ibiza).

Croquetas de gamba ibicenca con mahonesa de ají (Ibiza prawn croquets with aji mayonnaise).

Bombas de patata ibicenca con salsa brava y steak tartar de solomillo de ternera .

Stuffed potatoes with spicy brava sauce and steak tartar.

To drink we had Belondrade & Lurton Verdejo 2019 D.O.Rueda.

After a short break, we then had the following desserts.

Bizcocho semilíquido de almendras con helado de yogur y cerezas (Semi-liquid almond sponge cake with yoghurt and cherry ice cream).

Tarta de queso de Cabra Ses Cabretes con compota de Frutos Rojos, sorbete de fresa y albahaca (Ses Cabretes goat's cheesecake with wild berries compote, raspberry sorbet and basil).
