IBIZA - SANT CARLES - KIOSKU CALA MASTELLA
KIOSKU CALA MASTELLA
This beach bar in the north-east of the island is a real insider tip among Ibiza's chiringuitos.
It is sometimes unfavourably compared to the legendary fish restaurant El Bigotes, which sits to the left in the same bay. This is completely unjustified, although it works on a different concept.
Pepe Bonet and Angel Pins have created a true oasis of calm here over the last eight years and conjured up honest, perfectly prepared food.
They have six dishes (fresh fish, of course, and hamburgers, chicken and two types of salads) which guarantees the freshness of the food. Nothing is frozen here.
Lenguado (sole) €20
Sardinas (sardines) €16
Emperador (swordfish) €22
Calamar (squid) €23
There are also snacks (bocadillos/sandwiches etc) and ice cream for the children.
You can sit in the shade between the pine, bamboo, and juniper trees and view the stunning little small horseshoe-shaped bay.
The gently sloping beach is ideal for families and stand-up paddlers.
The beach entrance contains pebbles and stones, so sea shoes are recommended, especially for the children. At certain times of the year, there can be a lot of seaweed on the beach.
There is ample parking behind the kiosku, and be aware they do not allow dogs.
Booking is essential in the busy summer months. There have been a few complaints about the attitude of some of the staff but we never found that to be the case.
